· Course Overview: · The award is suitable for carers/managers who work in a supervisory capacity and wish to obtain a care qualification at level 4. It is suitable for workers from all areas of the care sector. This award is based on continuous achievement and there is no formal test. To obtain the full award you need to complete eight units that are all related to the management of care. There is some classroom based knowledge, which is advised but not mandatory as training can be given in the community. An assessor will be designated to visit you in place of work and to observe you in your practice, this evidence will form a part of your award. There are four mandatory units and four optional units for you to complete. The mandatory units are: Use and develop methods and systems to communicate, record and report. Contribute to the development and maintenance of healthy and safe working practices. Take responsibility for continuing professional development of self and others. Develop practices which promote choice and well being and protection of all individuals. The NVQ level four is designed for carers in senior supervisory roles such as deputy managers of care related services. You will need to be responsible for conducting staff supervisions, leading team meetings and generally auditing care planning and the health and safety of your service. The course looks at the productive management of a team that promotes successful care delivered by your service to the individual. Knowledge of staff management and of the client base you are dealing with is highlighted throughout this course.
