This qualification is for “Practitioners” within high-risk work environments, people whose function requires them to provide unambiguous and accurate advice on health and safety matters to non-specialists, supervisors, managers and directors.
In short, you must be able to:
a. Demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of Relevant Statutory Provisions, Risk Management techniques, Monitoring activities and Policies.
b. Demonstrate that you use this knowledge, applied to high-risk situations.
c. Demonstrate that you can cascade this understanding to a wide range of persons.
d. Demonstrate that you can have a positive impact on the culture and levels of safety within your organisation.
In order to demonstrate your competence, you must complete ten mandatory units:
- HSP2: Promote a positive Health and Safety culture
- HSP3: Develop and Implement the Health and Safety Policy
- HSP4: Develop and implement effective communication systems for Health and Safety information
- HSP5: Develop and maintain individual and organisational competence in Health and Safety matters
- HSP6: Identify, Assess and Control Health and Safety Risks
- HSP7: Develop & Implement proactive monitoring systems for Heath & Safety
- HSP8: Develop and implement reactive monitoring systems for Health & Safety
- HSP10: Develop and implement Health and Safety emergency response systems and procedures
- HSP11: Develop and implement Health and Safety review systems
- HSP13: Influence and keep pace with improvements in health and safety practice
