Description
The Painting & Decorating Diploma is made up of six units. Candidates have to be successful in all six units to gain the Diploma.

Course Length
1 year (full time).

What will I study?
Performing Painting & Decorating tasks of a non-complex nature, these include safe working practices, quantities and communicating with others, building methods and construction technology, basic painting & decorating skills. You will erect/dismantle access equipment and working platforms, prepare surfaces for decorating, apply paint systems by brush/roller, apply foundation and plain papers, produce specialist decorative finishes. You will also learn functional skills which are English, Maths and ICT as required.

How will I learn?
Your individual learning plan will help you learn in a way that best suits your needs. You will agree a work programme with your tutor, which will include the setting of individually assessed tasks, periodic reviews and tutorials.

How will I be assessed?
Progressive assessments of all course elements are carried out on an individual basis. All assessments contribute towards course units, which will build for certification. Assessment includes an external test.

Where could it lead?
The course will provide you with the necessary skills, training and knowledge to progress to the Painting & Decorating Diploma Level 2, become an Apprentice Painter or gain employment in the construction industry.
