Introduction
A great hands on evening course which will 'lay the foundations' of your skill. You should be able to tackle more technical DIY jobs in the home or garden and if you want, go on to more advanced stages ready to tackle that extension!
Description
The course objectives are: continuation of awareness of basic health & safety; accurate laying of bricks to a line; safe brick cutting techniques; awareness of brick bonding and the reasons for it; techniques of jointing; and accurate use of the spirit level. Forming door and window openings, and constructing brick and block cavity walling. Block bonded piers and indents as well as feature brickwork. Delivery takes place in our workshop at the Langley Centre and involves building walls using lime mortar. Successful completion of this course results in a college certificate.
Duration
This course runs over ten weeks, one evening per week for three hours.
