Course Content

The course is designed to produce cake decoration skills of a standard suitable for industry as a cake decorator and finisher. Candidates entering this course will be expected to have completed the ABC level 2 certificate in cake decoration or have reached an equivalent standard.

Course Features

General equipment is provided for all learners. However specialist cutters, materials and colours have to be provided by the individual.

The course develops knowledge of the more complex, specialist, cake decoration skills.

Existing skill are developed to create specialist cakes.

Practical experience is provided in the handling of specialist tools and equipment.

Design ? Presentation skills are extended.
Career Prospects and Progression

This qualification provides the knowledge and practical experience to assist candidates wishing to gain NVQ?s or VRQ?s in other catering areas. Completion also provides a firm basis for a career in this craft and opportunities for self employment.

Method of Assessment

Practical work is continually assessed throughout the course and a portfolio of evidence must be developed. Final assessment pieces are externally examined.
