This is an advanced vocational qualification designed to increase the knowledge of all aspects of Aromatherapy to gain a Level 3 Diploma in Aromatherapy Additional Techniques, working to National Occupational Standards.(Supported by Skills for Health, the Standards Setting Organisation for health related skills and their Lead Body advisers).This is an excellent choice for qualified aromatherapists to update their industry knowledge and skills. You are offered the opportunity to compete in local and national competitions.

What will I learn?
You will learn a wider range of Aromatherapy treatment methods, prepare products, advise clients. The Diploma is mapped against the National Occupational Standards for Aromatherapy and provides the highest level of attainment for a National qualification in this sector. It allows health professionals to obtain exemptions from mandatory sections in anatomy and physiology and knowledge of clinical practice. So, it is suitable for use by the widest range of candidates. Working safely to employment standards, specialist client assessment and treatment planning incorporating interpersonal skills, knowledge of ayurvedic principles, energies, auras, colour, chakras and meridians. Mixing and blending of essential oils for safe, effective treatment in holistic and clinical work. Application of aromatherapy oils by massage and other methods, widening range of reasons for treatment and products used, to include minor ailments and symptoms and important life changes. In particular for treatments used as part of palliative care within health services. Understanding of protocols and delivery of aromatherapy treatments in healthcare. Development of anatomy and physiology and pathology. This is progression from the VTCT Level 3 Diploma or Certificate in Aromatherapy and requires a knowledge of at least 40 essential oils and 60 hours of treatments. Previous client case studies may be developed for this course with agreement of the tutor. The new 'Academy' includes brand new, state of the art salons for students to gain real, industry experience during their course.

How will I be assessed?
You will be continually assessed by the following methods: Assignments; Case studies; Practical Assessment; End of unit test; Portfolio of evidence. Evidence from previous aromatherapy diploma portfolios ( valid for 3 years) or working experience may be carried forward to this course by agreement with your tutor.

What can I do after the course?
You can continue with further study on other Holistic and Complementary Therapy Courses at level 3, HNC or Degree level. You can also find employment in the health care sector, palliative care, salon, health spa, or as a self employed Aromatherapist by setting up own business.

Entry Requirement
You will need to have an informal interview with a Complementary / Holistic Therapy Tutor. An appropriate qualification in Aromatherapy at Level 3 eg Aromatherapy Diploma or Certificate is required. The course is ideal for those currently employed in aromatherapy, beauty therapy, holistic and health related sectors, those wishing to update their skills to National Occupational Standards and mature students with good basic skills. You will need to wear a uniform (white tunic and tabard, trousers and full shoes) and have a basic phytobotanica aromatherapy kit plus any additions.
