About this course
ITEC requires that students are a minimum of 18 years of age at the time of sitting the examination. You will normally hold a minimum of 5 GCSEs, one of which should preferably be in English and one in Science. Mature students are selected on their suitability to take the course.

1 Year, one and a half days per week. Either Tuesday 12.15pm - 3.00pm and Friday 9.15am - 3.00pm; OR Tuesday 9.15am - 12.00 noon and Wednesday 9.15am - 3.00pm.

Course Details:
The course covers the practical skills and underpinning theory and knowledge required to practise as a Beauty Specialist.
Assessment
20 client case studies, a practical examination with an external examiner, and five 1 hour multiple choice examination papers on: skincare; make-up; waxing; manicure and pedicure; professional conduct and business awareness.
Career Progression:
- Other courses in beauty or complementary therapies.
- Employment in the Beauty Industry including work in salons, health farms or in cosmetic companies.
- Work in own salon, or providing home visiting services.
Other Information:
You will be expected to purchase your own textbooks and various pieces of equipment and tools. You will also need to purchase a uniform - dress or tunic, trousers and shoes. Please note that in addition to the tuition fee, a charge is made for materials used in class.
Students are recommended to take out student insurance (approx 35) which covers students for client work and practice of skills outside college. The Tutor will advise you about this at the commencement of course.
Fees:
For 2008/09 the tuition fee for EU students is 937; the registration fee is 70; the materials fee is 60 and the college affiliation fee is 25 (the tuition fee can be waived for students on a means tested benefit).
