Level: Fast Track
Course content:
A fast track course in three months (one term only) to introduce you to the Deaf Community, so you can gain experience and signing skills in Deaf environment and events. It is also suitable for people with an interest in work with deaf people in the future and is the first step to career in BSL/English interpreting.
Candidates must achieve all three units for the full qualification. -Unit BSL 101: understand and use a limited range of simple words and sentences e.g. meeting people, exchanging information, numbers, weather, transport and directions.
-Unit BSL 102 is conversational skills (BSL) · You will learn to take part in simple, predictable conversations or instructions in BSL in relations to activities at home, e.g. using numbers, describing interest, activities and commenting on the weather, at home:- people, animals and objects.
-Unit BSL 103 focuses on conversational skills (BSL 103) · You will learn to take part in simple, predictable conversations or instructions in BSL in relations to activities at work/school/college e.g.: describing the building, activities carried out, transport used, directions, refreshment and getting around.
Course Structure:
You will lean to use BSL to communicate with deaf people on a range of topics that involve simple, everyday language. Through demonstration, pair/group work and role play.

Assessment:
Tutor feedback, Internally and externally assessed practical skills. Homework, BSL exam with tutor · Fees paid separately. Ask Tutor to give you the dates for exam and fees.

When information is available you will notice 2 different fees stated for this course. The fee you pay is dependent on your status:
Fee 1: Standard fee;
Fee 2: Aged 60+ years fee
Students in receipt of an income-based benefit pay £20 per course per term.
You will need to bring proof of age and any benefits when you enrol.
You DO NOT have to pay a college registration fee for these courses, but you may have to pay for additional course materials.Materials costs:
