About this course
This course is for students 19 years old and over. A minimum of level 2 equivalent educational standard. Employment in a childcare or children and young people setting (minimum 16 hours per week).

Course content:
Mature students 18 plus, preferably holding a level 2 childcare qualification or experience of caring for children in groups settings or as a childminder. Applicants must be employed in an Early Years setting and working no less than 16 hours per week.
The course is made up of five mandatory units. These include: Project and Promote Children's Rights, Promote Children's Development, Reflect on and Develop Practice, Develop and Promote positive Relationships and Develop and Maintain a healthy, Safe and Secure Environment for Children. In addition there are other units - selected according to the individual students work setting.
Course Structure:
The course is delivered over one year. Students will attend college for the underpinning knowledge and will be assessed in the work place by a college NVQ Assessor.

The fee where stated is an 'INCLUSIVE FEE' for UK/EU students. This fee includes the tuition fee, examination fee and exam board registration fee. You may have to pay extra for materials for the course. If you are under 19 years or you are in receipt of an income related benefit the course and exam fee is FREE. Students aged 60+ years pay 70% of this fee. Students aged 19+ will also have to pay a College Registration Fee of £30 (or £20 if you receive benefit) once per academic year.Materials costs:
Approximately £50 for appropriate core texts. In addition students will need to provide lever arch folders and writing paper.
