City and Guilds 2303 Computer Aided Engineering

Course Details

These courses are ideally suited to people working in industry who wish to develop new skills or want to work at a more advanced level. Prior knowledge of Computer Numerical Control (CNC) or computing is useful but not essential. Learners will be considered from any occupational background. The course contains both theory and practical elements. The course has been structured as a project which is the programming and manufacture of components to complete a model lorry. The project and the supporting paperwork are assessed for certification, there are no formal exams. There is a strong practical content to this course and you will be working towards vocational certification in the area of Computer Aided Engineering. NC/CNC Machine Setting and Operation This certificate can be awarded on completion of the following four units: Unit 1 - Safety procedures Unit 2 - Data input and preparation Unit 3 - Work and Tool preparation Unit 4 - CNC Machine Operation

There are no formal entry requirements; a basic knowledge of engineering is an advantage. Computer literacy is not essential as assistance will be offered.

36 weeks (part time), over one year.
