Course Details

BS7671:2008 requirements for Electrical Installations (IEE Regulations 17th Edition) is the national electrical code for the electrical industry, setting standards for the safe design, selection, erection and inspection and testing of electrical installations. The City and Guilds 2382-20 update course is intended to bring qualified and experienced electricians up to date with the current requirements of BS7671. This qualification is essential for progression in the electrical industry and a mandatory entry requirement for the City and Guilds 2391/2392 courses in inspection, testing and certification of electrical installations at Hull College. Demand for this course is very high and prospective learners are encouraged to enrol early to avoid disappointment. The course only covers changes from the 16th to the 17th Edition of the Regulations, including: Scope, object and fundamental principles for safety Assessment of general characteristics Protection for Safety Selection and Erection of Equipment Inspection and Testing Special Installations and Locations Assessment: You will need to pass an externally set examination by City and Guilds and produce your City and Guilds 2381 Certificate in the Requirements for Electrical Installation (BS 7671: June 2001) to successfully complete the course and be awarded the certificate. Successful candidates are awarded a City and Guilds 2382 Certificate in the Requirements for Electrical Installations.

Qualifications required:
This course is only available to candidates who have achieved the City and Guilds 2381 Certificate in the Requirements for Electrical Installation (BS 7671: June 2001), not the earlier 2380 Certificate. Candidates must also be practising, qualified electricians with relevant industrial experience who possess or are working towards a Level 3 qualification in Electrical Installation work and be fully conversant with the 16th Edition of the Regulations. Written evidence of your qualifications must be produced at enrolment, copies of which must be retained by the College, before you can be enrolled on the course. For this reason learners must attend College to enrol.

Courses normally run three times a year starting in September, January and March.

Course hours:
One evening per week from 6pm until 9pm. Candidates are advised however, that extensive home study is a course requirement.

Inspection, Testing and certificate of Electrical Installations City and Guilds 2391/2392, after successful completion of this course.
