About this course

CMI Diploma in Team Leading or equivalent, be in a supervisory role or a line manager in your first management position. You will also need to join the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) for the duration of the programme. The membership fee for the Award in First Line Management is 72, paid direct to CMI.

Introduction
The CMI Award in First Line Management is a nationally recognised qualification designed to enable new managers and supervisors maintain and develop their skills in managing and developing the teams and areas they are responsible for.

Description
At the end of the course delegates will: Understand how to develop and use a personal development plan Know how to plan and manage work Understand how to develop and maintain effective working relationships Be able to maintain healthy, safe and productive working environment. To be able to achieve the above objectives delegates will complete one module: 1.Personal development as a first line manager However, to better suit the needs of their job role delegates can swap the above module with one of the following: Developing teams and individuals - 23.2.10 for 5 weeks Resource planning - 30.3.10 for 5 weeks Managing and communicating information - 18.5.10 for 5 weeks Meeting stakeholder needs - 29.6.10 for 5 weeks Recruitment and selection - 14.9.10 for 5 weeks Improving team performance - 19.10.10 for 5 weeks

Duration
One evening per week over 5 weeks. Other delivery options available on request.

Method of Study
Workshops with a mix of taught sessions and practical tasks. The formal assessment is one assignment of 2000 - 2500 words which will include a written report, personal development plan and integrated work activities.

Progression
CMI Certificate or Diploma in First Line Management.
