Level: Level 1

Course content:
This course is for people who want to learn basic improvisation and performance skills for acting. Many students also find the course a fun way to improve their confidence in public speaking and presentations.
By the end of the course you will have learnt:
- warm up techniques
- basic improvisation skills
- use of status in a scene
- basic character development
- initial voice projection
- use of space
- You will also do some text-based work reading and interpreting scripts.

Course Structure:
A workshop format with practical demonstrations, drama games and exercises, group and paired work, individual work on speeches, all with advice and input from your tutor

Course resources:
Students will be encouraged to bring monologues, scripts and scenes from plays they have enjoyed

Assessment:
Tutor observation and feedback. Individual Learning Plans. Student and peer self assessment. Sharing of work in group.
