English Level 1/Adult Literacy Level 1 - CALY11AL

Is the course for me?
You will be able to develop speaking and listening skills and be able to read and understand a variety of texts and obtain information from different sources. You will be able to communicate information and ideas in an appropriate format.

The course is delivered on a roll on roll off basis which means as soon as you feel ready to take the exam ( after a minimum of 5 weeks ) you may do so and progress onto the next level dependent upon exam result. The advantage of this programme is that individuals can speed up their learning capabilities and can progress through the various levels. At each level you will be able to take up to 12 months to complete if necessary.

What will I learn?
You will be able to develop skills and confidence using a range of communication tecniques and complete a variety of tasks and projects at Level 1.

How will I be assessed?
Assessment is through a nationally set test that has 40 multiple-choice questions. The questions are based on a variety of reading materials which aim to assess your reading, comprehension, punctuation, grammar and spelling. This can be done as a paper based or online assessment.
