Course Description: This course is suitable for qualified teachers who have already completed the Graduate Certificate and wish to continue to extend their knowledge of Special Educational Needs practice. The diploma will be awarded for successful completion of 2 modules focusing on specific needs within the classroom. It is suitable for teachers working in all settings including special schools and primary and secondary age ranges. Each module is accredited at 30 credits at Level 6.

Modules include two from the following: Teaching Learners with Emotional, Behavioural and Social Difficulties; Classroom Approaches to Specific Learning Difficulties (Dyslexia); Classroom Approaches to Speech and Language Difficulties; Classroom Approaches for Learners with Motor Impairment and Teaching Learners with Autistic Spectrum Disorder.

Entry Requirements: Applicants will be practising teachers with responsibility for, or an interest in learners with additional needs and must have completed the Graduate Certificate.

Progression/Career Opportunities: Previous students have achieved career progression within their chosen area including SENCo responsibilities. The course also allows progression to the Masters programmes at University of Wales, Newport (subject to UWN application processes).
