Guitar

Level: introduction

Course content:
This course is for people who want to learn the basics of guitar playing and is suitable for complete beginners.
By the end of the course you will be able to:
Tune the guitar
Interpret chord charts and guitar tablature.
Use simple rhythms and finger-picking patterns.
Develop coordination and listening skills and learn basic theory.
Use techniques such as shuffle rhythms, bass-line patterns, lead scales, muting.
Songs will be on the pop, rock, folk and blues style.

Course Structure:
Each week a topic will be taught in class; students will practice notation and tunes individually with one to one input from the tutor.

Course resources:
All students have access to our fully equipped state of the art learning centre. This included free internet access.

Assessment:
tutor observation and feedback. Individual Learning Plans. Student and peer self assessment.

Fee 1: Standard fee;
Fee 2: Aged 60+ years fee
Students in receipt of an income-based benefit pay £20 per course per term.
You will need to bring proof of age and any benefits when you enrol.
You DO NOT have to pay a college registration fee for these courses, but you may have to pay for additional course materials.Materials costs:
