Course Content:
This programme provides the specialist knowledge to support employment and an Apprenticeship in the pathways of brickwork, carpentry & joinery or painting & decorating. It contains core units to introduce learners to the construction industry and specialist units for each of the pathways. This is not an NVQ, it is the underpinning knowledge required to support an NVQ that could be assessed in the workplace. The programme has classroom and workshop practice along with numeracy and communication to support your studies. It is very important that your employer can provide support and practice in the practical requirements of the programme.

How will I be Assessed? :
Each pathway has 6-8 knowledge units that are each assessed by a multi-choice exam. A Level 1 multi-choice exam is set for the end of the course. The practical units have tasks that lead to a substantial testing of your skills and ability. The numeracy and communication are assessed by portfolio and online examinations.

Entry Requirements:
A minimum of 2 GCSEs at grade D or above, English and Maths preferred, or an indication of ability from an initial assessment. The opportunity to practice away from college
