Life Drawing
Level: Level 1
Course content:
Suitable for beginners with some experience of other forms of drawing/painting and students with experience of life drawing.
You will be introduced through projects to various ways of looking at the figure and translating this onto paper using different materials. The aim of the course is to enable you to develop your work in a new and innovative way. Naked models will be used.
By the end of the course you will be able to:
- Draw using basic techniques including line and tone, composition, eye-hand co-ordination
- Use colour in drawing (pastels) as well as painting.
- Use proportion, scale,
- Use basic anatomy in drawing the human figure
- Develop a portfolio
Course Structure:
Practical demos by the tutor, using a variety of materials, suggested methods and techniques, with the aim to further enhance your perceptual abilities. Students will be encouraged to experiment with new media but also will be encouraged to develop their own techniques and methods throughout the term.
Each session will often end on a brief group discussion of the evenings work.
Course resources:
Drawing boards are provided. All students have access to our fully equipped state of the art learning centre. This included free internet access.
Assessment:
tutor observation and feedback. Individual Learning Plans. Student and peer self assessment. Sharing of work in group. Completed drawings.

Fee 1: Standard fee;
Fee 2: Aged 60+ years fee
Students in receipt of an income-based benefit pay £20 per course per term.
You will need to bring proof of age and any benefits when you enrol.
You DO NOT have to pay a college registration fee for these courses, but you may have to pay for additional course materials.Materials costs:
paper is available to buy at between 20 - 50 p per sheet, your tutor will advise you what pencils, charcoal, rubbers etc to buy and suggest suppliers
