Would you like to develop and increase your floristry skills by experimenting with textures, flowers and creative unique structures? A chance to design larger event work and advanced wedding and funeral designs? Understand business management, retailing and customer service? This course is run over two years for one day a week, and consists of 12 units. On completion of 6 units in the first academic year, you will also gain a National Award. The certificate offers progression for students who already have an understanding of the floristry industry and who would like to develop further.
What qualifications will I need?
First Diploma in Floristry or equivalent recognised qualification, basic education, or one year's floristry experience within the industry.
What will I be learning about?
- Funeral and sympathy designs
- Large event designs
- Visual mechanisation and promotion
- Business operation and sales
- Plant science and cut flowers
Please note: There will be a weekly charge of £10 to cover the cost of cut flowers
What is involved?
Study at Kingston Maurward College one day a week and undertake 200 hours of work experience throughout the academic year with a local floristry business. Lectures, practical instruction, theory and demonstrations.
Where will it take me?
Career opportunities include working within a floristry business, freelance contract work, your own business or working abroad.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment will be completed in the form of assignments and projects.
