Providing a solid foundation in the theory and practical skills required within fisheries management, this course encourages students to engage in real life working environments. You will become actively involved in the development and management of the college's aquatic resources, together with commercially syndicated and association owned off-site facilities. You will also participate in hatchery work so as to produce fish for the sport fishery industry and carry out lake restoration projects.

Entry Requirements

4 GCSEs at Grade C or above, with preferably 1 in Mathematics, English or Science
First Diploma at Merit or above
Equivalent qualifications will be considered.

Assessment Method
Continuous assessments throughout the year comprising written and oral tests, practical assignments and identification tests.

Progression Routes
Successful students can progress into higher education with the FdSc Fisheries Management programme. Alternatively they can pursue a career in the industry at a technical or supervisory position.

Specialist Equipment Needed
Fishing tackle, Environment Agency rod licence, chest waders, warm and waterproof clothing and steel toe-capped boots.
