Introduction
This is a suitable programme for those wishing to work at a supervisory level in a childcare setting and is assessed in the workplace. This course enables candidates to demonstrate their ability, knowledge and understanding of working with, meeting the needs of, children. It is suitable for those working in various childcare settings.

Description
The programme consists of underpinning knowledge sessions held in the evening at college. The sessions will explore the methods of assessment and aspects of knowledge such as health and safety, anti-discriminatory practice, safe guarding children and many other areas. The candidate will be assigned an assessor who will plan and assess competence in the workplace.

Duration
1 year of college sessions and assessment with a following year to complete portfolio

Method of Study
There will be 17 underpinning knowledge sessions at college and assessment in the workplace by a qualified assessor. Candidates will compile a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate competence and knowledge of all aspects of working with young children.
