Course Duration:
6 months of formal teaching delivery, followed by a further 6 months to complete the assessment process.

Course Description
The award consists of 6 NVQ units comprising 4 core units and then 2 selected optional units.
The 4 core units are as follows:
* Communicate with, and complete records for, individuals
* Support the health and safety of yourself and individuals
* Develop your own knowledge and practice
* Ensure your own actions support the care, protection and well being of individuals

Delivery will involve a combination of college guidance and assessment in the workplace. You will attend college guidance sessions on a regular basis. These will provide support and assistance with both the underpinning knowledge & how to meet the performance criteria for your chosen units. You will be required to undertake some written questions to confirm knowledge. Your assessor will also undertake the required workplace observations and provide ongoing support to help you show competency across the award requirements

How is the Qualification Achieved ?
All assessment can take place in your own work environment, focussing on your every day work activities. Your assessor will undertake direct observation in your workplace and help you to compile a portfolio of evidence (consisting of observations, witness testimonies, work records and questions). Electronic assessment portfolios can be used to reduce some of the workload for candidates in this process.

On Successful Completion of this Course
Successful completion of this course will enable candidates to:
* Achieve the NVQ 2 in Health & Social Care
* Become a more attractive employee for Social Care organisations
* It could lead to promotion or progression onto the NVQ 3 in Health & Social Care
