Course Details

The course is for operators working in the public, private and community sectors and covers the full range of tasks that are carried out in materials recycling and processing through various pathways. The qualification is delivered on site, with an assigned trainer consultant who, coordinates training and assessment of knowledge, evidence and observation. A portfolio of evidence and a knowledge base is built with support from the trainer consultant working on a one to one or small group basis. The programme delivery is flexible dependant upon the needs of the employer and the individual but can take 2 to 6 months Benefits to the learner include: Gaining a nationally recognised certificate of achievement (NVQ Level 2 is equivalent to a GCSE). A way of improving your skills base and gaining recognition of these skills as well as top up training for any skills gaps that you may have. It reflects the full range of activities and responsibilities carried out by operators including commitment to environmental issues. Benefits to the employer include: Training and assessment to a national recognised standard (NVQ Level 2). Provides emphasis on ISO 14401, Environment Agency and Sustainable Development issues. Introduces the skills required to provide an emphasis on the candidates own actions to reduce risks to health & safety and other aspects through various pathways. Improves motivation of staff and helps to reduce the high levels of turnover in this occupation.

Progression:
On completion of the programme candidates may progress onto a level 3 in Management of Recycling Operations
