About this course

Applicants successful at interviews/tests will need to achieve grade D in Mathematics and English (Language or Literature) to gain a place on the course. Any offer of a place will be conditional on the production of documentary evidence of GCSE grades or equivalent before the course commences. Special consideration may be made if applicants show particular aptitude for the course.

Part Time Plastering - NVQ Craft Training and Education

Course Description:

Each Trainee who attends this programme of training will be working towards credits for a national Vocational qualification. A modular patter allows trainees to progress at their own pace on units of competence approved by the Construction Industry Training Board and City and Guilds.

Content

Plastering – Level 2

Mandatory Units: (All Candidates must achieve these)
•Conform to General Workplace Safety
•Conform to Efficient Work Practices
•Move and Handle Resources

Solid Plastering – Full Route

Mandatory Units
•Prepare Background Surfaces for Plasterwork
•Produce Internal Solid Plastering Finishes
•Produce External Solid Render Finishes

Plus any two of the following optional units:
•Apply Finishing Plaster to Background Surfaces
•Install direct Bond Dry Linings
•Lay Sand and Cement Screeds
•Apply Projection Plaster and Maintain Equipment
•Install mechanically Fixed Plasterboard

Trainees who successfully achieve the units listed will be awarded an NVQ Level 2.

Key Skills are incorporated in all programmes.
