Course Description:
The course aims to enable candidates to develop a broad understanding of how a retail outlet operates and functions, to offer a clear understanding of the individual's role in providing customer service in the retail industry and ways in which they can contribute, and an awareness of how to improve their own performance. It offers a formal qualification for those already working in the retail industry who wish to improve their knowledge and understanding. It also provides those seeking employment with a good foundation of knowledge and skills on which to build and develop a career in the retail sector.

Candidates will be provided with course materials for the programme.

The course consists of four units covering:

• Customer service, selling and product knowledge
• Helath, safety and security
• Merchanidsing, storage and display
• Personal effectiveness and teamwork

Once you have enrolled on this programme, you will have access to a tutor who will support you throughout the duration of the programme, and provide you with detailed feedback on the written work submitted. The tutor will agree a schedule of work that suits the individual in terms of their existing commitments and workload.

Assessment and Progression:
Candidates will be provided with course materials for the programme. The learning materials contain the knowledge needed to meet the assessment requirements of the course and activities to allow candidates to practise their skills and test their learning. Candidates work through the learning materials and complete assessments for each unit. Learning activities and assessments are based on a combination of knowledge and skills learned on the programme and work-based activities and experience. Each candidate will have access to a tutor who will support them throughout the programme. Candidates will be able to contact the learning centre to speak to a tutor and gain help, support and guidance at any stage of the course. The tutor will provide each learner with detailed feedback on the written work submitted.

Progression
On successful completion of this programme you may choose to progress to a range of programmes including NVQ Retail Operations, NVQ Customer Service, etc.

This will depend on the level of the NVQ but typically can take up to 12 months.

Location: Lincoln

The fee includes work place visits, observations, portfolio building, registration with the awarding body and guidance. Fees are payable at the beginning of the programme.
