Is the course for me?
This specialist massage course focuses specifically on massage movements for people who exercise and the ordinary person on the street. The syllabus covers pre-event and post-event massage techniques, for use both before and after physical exertion. You will learn to combine different forms of massage and give advice on stretching exercises, to relieve pain and tension and promote wellbeing in clients ranging from those exercising for pleasure to the professional sports person you will learn to understand musculo-skeletal injuries and be able to provide rehabilitation advice.
What will I learn?
Contents of the programme are to include Advanced Massage Skills, Rehabilitation Technique, Health & Safety and Employment Standards, FA First Aid, Anatomy and Physiology of all systems with an emphasis on Skeletal and Muscular physiology. Delivery of the course is supported through practical observations, oral and some written.
How will I be assessed?
You will be continually assessment via practical, written and oral elements from the course. Some elements of the course may be externally examined.
What can I do after the course?
You can progress onto the Level 3 Diploma in Sports and Fitness therapy techniques. Please ask your course tutor or a Learner Services advisor for more details.
