For candidates who would like to move into teaching or coaching. This is a vocationally'related qualification that has been designed for candidate tutors working in all aspects of sport and recreation who wish to deliver and facilitate learning sessions. The qualification may be used as a stepping stone to employment within National Governing Bodies or on to Assessor awards which form an integral part of the United Kingdom Coaching Certificate (UKCC).
What qualifications will I need?
For candidates who would like to move into teaching and have completed an Advanced Sports Apprenticeship or a full time course at Kingston Maurward or are already a qualified Sports Coach. Minimum age is 18 years.
What will I be learning about?
Sports Tutor comprises four elements:
- Element 1 Plan and design learning sessions
- Element 2 Deliver learning sessions
- Element 3 Manage and facilitate learning
- Element 4 Review, assess and evaluate learning
Topics covered include:
- Recognise how people learn.
- Apply the principles of learning.
- Plan learning sessions to meet learning outcomes.
- Design learning activities centred on their sport.
- Select delivery methods to meet learning outcomes.
- Develop and adapt learning resources.
- Prepare and deliver learning sessions.
- Manage and facilitate learning sessions.
- Evaluate and review learning sessions.
- Evaluate and develop their own practice through continuous professional development.
Where will it take me?
- Working as a coach educator within a National Governing Body.
- Progressing into teacher training.
What materials are required?
Tracksuit, trainers and whistle. Basic stationery.
How will I be assessed?
Ongoing observation assessment with some written tests.
