Course description
This award is the industry standard for anyone required to make assessment decisions for candidates on NVQ programmes at any level. The award consists of one unit containing four elements. It replaces the former TDLB standard D32 and D33. The elements are:
A1.1 Develop plans with candidates for assessing competence
A1.2 Judge evidence against criteria to make assessment decisions
A1.3 Provide feedback and support to candidates and assessment decisions
A1.4 Contribute to the internal quality assurance process
You will be required to meet the national standard for A1 by taking two of your own NVQ candidates through the assessment process. You will be supported and guided in order to achieve this.
The training we offer includes:
An initial assessment of your needs, to make sure that you are able to achieve A1
An initial half day seminar, including full supporting documentation, outlining the standards and what you have to do to collect and assemble evidence
An observation, and a written report, of you giving feedback to your candidates
An initial assessment of your portfolio followed by a further four guidance and support meetings
You will be expected to agree an assessment plan and to make, and keep, deadlines for the completion of the award. You will also be expected to complete the qualification within 5 months of your initial training.

You must currently be assessing 2 NVQ candidates.
