Suitable for: This course is for candidates who. are currently working as teachers of ESOL in the Lifelong Learning Sector (or who have a placement that guarantees them meeting the teaching practice requirement (below). Have already achieved a full level 5 teaching qualification, or equivalent, allowing them to teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector, but who would like to qualify as a specialist teacher(full role) in English (ESOL) or are working towards a level 5 DTLLS

Course aims:
This course is for candidates who
- are currently working as teachers of ESOL in the Lifelong Learning Sector (or who have a placement that guarantees them meeting the teaching practice requirement (below)
- have already achieved a full level 5 teaching qualification, or equivalent, allowing them to teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector, but who would like to qualify as a specialist teacher(full role) in English (ESOL) or are working towards a level 5 DTLLS
Candidates must have access to 75 hours of teaching and teach across a minimum of two levels
Course content:
- Preparing to teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (Cert TESOL top-up
- Language use and the ESOL learner
- ESOL classroom practice
- Literacy theory and practice
Assessment: You will be assessed by:
- Observations of teaching
- Practical assignments
- Presentations
- Teaching practice portfolio (comprising schemes of work, diagnostics, Individual Learning Plans (ILPs)
- One externally assessed written assignment

Entry Requirements:
DTLLS or equivalent or working towards level 5.
Candidates will be able to demonstrate Level 2, English/Literacy skills, Cambridge CELTA qualification or

You will need to have access to 75 hours of teaching groups and one- to one at more than one level.
Qualification in Context and Future Opportunities: Following successful completion of this course you could progress onto teaching ESOL in the Lifelong Learning Sector.
