Course content:
A course for lovers of wine, both those with some experience of tasting and knowledge of wine and complete beginners who just know what they like! You will learn about the history of viniculture, grape varieties, styles of wine and regions and how to match wine with food.
This course will give you greater confidence when choosing wine in a restaurant or shop. It will cover:
- List grape varieties
- Explain the basic process of wine-making
- List wine producing regions and countries
- Identify'" corked' wine.
- Taste wine correctly and use the right terminology.
- Explain the science behind viniculture and wine-making.
Course Structure:
Each week the lesson will include mini lecture on a topic/region/variety and tasting of a number of wines. Students' particular interests maybe incorporated in the course.
Course resources:
Access to learning Centre at Tooting which holds a selection of reference magazines and books.
Assessment:
tutor observation and feedback. Individual Learning Plans. Student and peer self assessment.

Fee 1: Standard fee;
Fee 2: Aged 60+ years fee
Students in receipt of an income-based benefit pay £20 per course per term.
You will need to bring proof of age and any benefits when you enrol.
You DO NOT have to pay a college registration fee for these courses, but you may have to pay for additional course materials.Materials costs:
