About this course

Course BenefitsLeeds Trinity University is a well-established and widely-respected institution with an excellent reputation for teacher education. Because of this reputation, we have strong relationships with schools in partnership for training teachers throughout the region. The Professional Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) course is designed in three stages to provide a gradual and supportive induction into teaching. The course qualifies you to teach the complete Primary Curriculum from 5–11 and provides you with an opportunity to pursue a specific area of personal interest and specialism during Stage 3. Throughout all three placement trainees are strongly supported by Leeds Trinity and School-based tutors. Assessment during centre-based training is by a variety of coursework and during School-based training by performance.

A good honours degree (2ii or above).​GCSE Grade C (or accepted equivalent) English, Mathematics and Science.   • Curriculum understanding in English, Maths, ICT, History, Science/DT, FL, Art and PE.
  • Weekly serial visits to school-based training 1 placement and a block of school-based training block.

Each stage of the programme consists of a University-based block and school-based training block, the first running from September until November, the second running from November until the end of February and the third running from March until the end of&#;June.​
