Entry Requirements
5 GCSEs at Grade C or above, usually including English and Maths.

Modules Studied:

  • Mechanics: motion, forces and energy. This unit has a 30% weighting towards the AS qualification.
  • Electrons, Waves and Photons: electricity, waves and Quantum Physics. This unit has a 50% AS weighting.
  • AS Practical Physics: three practical tasks are assessed which have a 20% AS weighting. The entire AS qualification counts as half of the full A2 qualification.
  • The Newtonian World: Newton's Laws, circular motion and Thermal Physics. This unit has a 15% weighting towards the A2 qualification.
  • Fields, Particles and the Frontiers of Physics: Fields, Nuclear and Medical Physics, the structure of the universe. This unit has a 25% A2 weighting.
