Acquire a deeper understanding of the stylistic interpretation of a wide repertoire. Emphasis will be placed on improving technique, tone production, pedalling technique and a rhythm/pulse co-ordination.

About this course
- Produce layered texture of 2-3 voices
- Demonstrate fluency or rhythm and pulse co-ordination
- Develop your technique further to enable to cope with more advanced repertoire
- Demonstrate an improved tone quality
- Display a subtle pedalling technique
- Join chords legato
- Analyse and define harmonic progression with use of dynamics.
Students should have access to a piano (acoustic or digital) for practice between classes and budget approximately £15 per term for music being studied. It is often possible to borrow scores from local libraries.
In this workshop, each member will be individually coached on their pre-prepared repertoire on a rota basis. Involvement in other class members’ performances will be encouraged through attentive listening, discussion and practical illustration.

Course programme
- The choice of repertoire will include two - three composers and a selection of studies at an approximate grade 7 standard
- You may also include works of your own choice
- Technical problems, style and performance skills will be discussed
- Scales: All major scales from level 6 plus Gflat/Fsharp; all minor scales from level 6 plus Csharp and Gsharp (harmonic and melodic, 3 8ve hands together). Arpeggios in those keys (3 8ve hands together).
