This is a level 2 throwing course. This ceramics course is an opportunity for students with some experience to
improve their throwing skills, and for beginners to learn the basic skills and techniques of making thrown pots.
As well as throwing forms and turning, you will have the chance to develop shapes and experiment with constructions, as well as working on a larger scale. You will also find out about slip, oxide and glaze decoration
techniques.

You should bring an old towel and 10 rubbish bags of 20 litres. There is a charge of £2.00 per 500g for clay before firing, the porcelain charge is £17.50 per bag/ £8.75 per half bag.
There are tools available to use within the department, but you may want to purchase your own as the course progresses.

Course programme
We will cover all the basic making processes, including clay preparation and simple shape forming – bowls, vases,
mugs, jugs and lidded forms. Coloured slip and oxide decoration will be introduced. There will be an opportunity for
those interested to experiment further with throwing and assembling.
