Preparation for Childcare Certificate Entry Level

What will I learn?
This short course will be suitable if you are interested in the care of young children, but are currently unable to commit to more than one day a week. It covers three units: pregnancy and the responsible parent, caring for young children aged between 0-3 years and play and learning in the home with children 0-3 years. You will need an interest in finding out more about care of children, parenting and play. This course is a basic introduction to childcare at Entry Level. It is combined with Literacy at Entry 3, both to help with your current course and to improve your skills with a view to progression to the next level. You will not be working with children as part of this course. In order to obtain employment in a childcare setting you need to move up to a Level 2 childcare course.

How will I be taught?
You will have a mixture of discussions, practical tasks and group work, in either small or large groups.

How will I be assessed?
There are nine short tasks, three for each Unit. You will be assessed through coursework.

What could I do next?
You could decide to apply for a Childcare course or Health and Social Care course at Level 1.
