This exciting course is available to students who achieved an overall pass in the BTEC First Diplomas in Health and Social Care, or Children's Care, Learning and Development. It helps you to develop your skills, knowledge and understanding of health and social care in the early years - vital if you are planning to continue studying or starting work. It will also help to prepare you for the demands of the BTEC National Diplomas in Health and Social Care, or Children's Care Learning and Development.

What will I be doing?
You will study six units which consist of four mandatory units and two specialist units. These are:
  • working to quality practice in care settings
  • working with service users in care settings
  • behavioural awareness in care
  • applied practical care in settings
  • child development
  • investigating child protection services

How will I be assessed?
Each unit will be assessed through a portfolio made up of your work. This will involve researching and analysing information, group work, essays and presentations. Grades will be awarded for each unit and an overall grade for the qualification awarded at the end of the course.

Where do I go from here?
On successful completion of this course you will be prepared to progress to the BTEC National Diploma in Health and Social Care, or Children's Care Learning and Development.
