Preparation for GCSE English

You will learn and practise the skills of reading, writing, speaking, listening and communication; presentation and analysis. You will study a variety of post-and-pre 1914 literacy prose and poetry. Students will be able to take the Functional Skills English at level 1 or Level 2. Students will learn through a variety of means including lectures, tutor guidance, handouts, worksheets, discussions, question and answer sessions, presentations, ICT, audio and video tapes, individual research, workshop sessions and practical examination questions as appropriate. The ability to present information to an audience; understand and correctly use language; correctly use reading and writing techniques and analytical skills is key to this award. Students will be required to take part in discussions and to give presentations. Students who are not ready to take the Functional Skills English at level 1 or 2 English will work towards Awards in specific English skills.Through lectures, tutor guidance, handouts, worksheets, discussions, question and answer sessions, presentations, IT, audio and video tapes, individual research, workshop sessions and practical examination questions, practical activities. Students will also work with sample assessment/tests.
