These ongoing workshops will introduce you to both operatic repertoire and the vocal skills and knowledge necessary to perform opera on stage successfully. Through these classes you will discover how acting and communicating through the operatic medium affects your singing and you will gain an overview of operatic voice-types and their repertoire. About this course
- Show improved listening skills and aural perceptiveness
- Perform studied arias and recitatives competently and from memory
- Demonstrate a greater knowledge of the operatic repertoire and its suitability
- Understand your voice type in an operatic context
- Show an understanding of the skills needed to perform this repertoire.
You must bring prepared aria to the first session which you can perform to the class. Futher repertoire choices will be made in conjunction with your teacher. You will also need to source your own copies of music to be studied during the course. Music may be purchased new or second-hand and/or available from local libraries. Westminster Central Music Library (Victoria) and the Barbican Music Library have very comprehensive collections. Suitable scores may also be available from
