Course content:
A course involving listening and lectures in class and visits to performances.
You will be able to discuss with confidence the historical and social background of the individual operas studied during the term. 2009/10 You will study some of the operas written since World War II, concentrating on the works of Benjamin Britten

Course Structure:
The classes consist of lecture, extensive illustrations on DVD,CD and piano, and discussion. There will be up to five optional opera visits a year to the English National Opera which are arranged privately at extra cost.

Course resources:
DVD and CD Player with excellent sound. All students have access to our fully equipped state of the art learning centre. This included free internet access. Handouts

Student self assessment and questions and class discussion
