The Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector course, offering 6 credits, is the starting point for anyone new to teaching in the sector. This threshold award is the first step in the teacher qualification framework which was introduced in 2007. Contents
The course is delivered as a short course, over 10 - 12 weeks, dependent upon the number of students. The class is for two and a half hours, weekly and is delivered at the Worsley Centre.

On completion of this unit a learner should:

Understand own role, responsibilities and boundaries of role in relation to teaching
Understand appropriate teaching and learning approaches in the specialist area
Demonstrate session planning skills
Understand how to deliver inclusive sessions which motivate learners
Understand the use of different assessment methods and the need for record keeping

Fees

The current tuition fees are £85 plus £20 registration with the awarding body.
