This course is an introduction on to caring skills and is designed for students who want to work in the Care Sector. Students must be interested in working in a Care or Early Years related setting and in learning about working with a variety of client groups. Students will take the following Mandatory Units. Develop your own Learning Introduction to the Care Sector, Communication and Working with Others, Healthy Living, Health and Safety plus Optional Units: Caring for Children under 8 years, Elderly Care, Caring for People with Physical or Learning Disabilities.

What will I study?
This course is an introduction on to caring skills and is designed for students who want to work in the Care Sector. Do I need any additional qualifications/ skills?
Students must complete a minimum of 40 hours on work experience. They will also be expected to study functional skills including Communications, Application of Number and Information Technology at the appropriate level. They may also follow an enrichment course in First Aid or Signing. Many students will progress within the College to Care courses at the next level. Students may also have the opportunity to experience caring for the Reality Baby for one to two nights.
How will I be assessed?
All units are assessed by the successful completion of externally set assignments. The student must complete a total of six assignments, one for each of the mandatory units and one for the chosen optional unit. Assignments are intended to assess practical activities based on students own experience of workplace setting or related activity.
