GCSE English, Mathematics and Science at Grade C or above. You are required to undertake and pass Professional Skills Tests set by DfE in Literacy and Numeracy, and a minimum of two weeks recent experience in a relevant classroom setting are also required.



For the BA (Hons) Upper Primary QTS with mathematics specialism, additionally to the requirements above you will be required to have a B grade at mathematics GCSE. It is desirable that you also have an A level in mathematics or related subject at grade C or above and / or significant related, education based, work experience. The BA (Hons) in Primary Education leads to an honours degree and the professional qualification of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), enabling you to begin your teaching career as a newly qualified teacher (NQT) equipped with the necessary subject knowledge, skills and understanding to start your career as a primary practitioner. Through an integrated programme of academic and professional practice learning, by the end of your three years, you will be able to demonstrate a deep understanding of children’s development and apply this in your own practice. In addition you will have a strong knowledge of the primary curriculum and will have the confidence to teach in innovative ways that excite and motivate children. Applicants for the BA (Hons) in Primary Education can apply for the 3-7 age or 5-11 age range. Students graduating from this course will be qualified to teach the whole of the primary phase.
