During the past decade, private equity has become an ever increasing part of the business landscape. Private equity deals account for about a fifth of all M&A deals - few companies can assume they are not potential targets of private equity funds. And, many companies’ acquisition targets are portfolio companies owned by private equity firms. Because of today’s uncertain and volatile public markets, private equity increasingly is supplanting public markets by providing a well-functioning private capital market for companies. As traditional asset classes deliver lower returns, many institutional investors, pension funds, family offices, and high net worth individuals are turning to alternative investment classes - with private equity being amongst the most popular.

Programme focus and structure

You will take a private equity journey to build up your understanding of the nature and structure of the global private equity sector, learn how venture capital and buyout deals are done, gain an overview of the private equity investment life cycle, appreciate how private equity funds work, and study the private equity investment approach of leading institutional investors. Robust debate during discussion of real world case studies and hands-on exercises linked to the cases will give you a practical understanding of the complexities of deal-making and how venture capital and buyout deals are sourced, negotiated, modelled, and valued. Returning to your company, you will be prepared to understand and take advantage of the opportunities private equity is opening up for you.

Who is the programme for?

You will join business leaders like yourself looking to gain a greater understanding of the private equity investment landscape. To facilitate discussion from all sides of an issue, a diverse mix of accomplished individuals will be selected from the applications we receive. Typical participants include, but are not limited to VC/buyout practitioners, chief investment officers, investment managers, asset managers, private investors and corporate executives or other individuals contemplating private equity careers.
