Course review:
Road Traffic Accidents cause massive suffering and loss in all corners of the world. In higher-income countries road traffic accidents are among the top ten leading causes of injury and death. In less developed countries the proportion of deaths and injuries caused by traffic accidents is much greater.
According to WHO research, deaths from non-communicable diseases are expected to climb to 49.7 million per annum by 2020 with traffic accidents are the main cause of this rise. At this level road traffic injuries will take third place in the rank order of "disease burden" by the year 2020.
In many cases traffic accidents can be avoided by using best practice techniques in managing the safety and risk aspects of a transport operation.
This course will equip your transport management staff with:
- the underpinning knowledge necessary for the proactive management of health and safety risks associated with road transport operations in the widest sense.
- Risk assessment, accident investigation and analytical skills to identify and quantify road transport risks.
- Knowledge of best practice in road transport, materials handling and storage operations.
- Apply best practice in the management of drivers and driving
At the end of the course each participating transport manager will be required to prepare and present an individual risk management action plan for implementation in their own organisations. These plans will be targeted on areas of business activity that participants can materially improve as a result of having attended the course.

- Identify and quantify road transport related risks in the organisation.
- Appreciate the nature of risk and the human response to it.

- Select and apply appropriate risk management tools.
- Carry out initial investigations into road traffic accidents and their causes.
