To give an understanding of the risk posed by extensive use of cameras. To demonstrate techniques which will help to reduce risks of injury. Suitable for: Staff who may or are required to use cameras and/or sound equipment as part of the production activity.

This training is to promote safe techniques when using cameras to prevent and reduce the risk of musculo-skeletal stress and injury.
The course can be presented as a stand alone session or built into an existing training course or programme. The session is practical and theory is kept to a minimum.
It covers:
weight of camera and accessories
awkward positions to be avoided
familiarising oneself with the kit
aiming for symmetry and neutral positions
releasing during awkward postures
standing with/without camera
supporting camera on shoulder
looking down through eyepiece
bending over camera
using tripod plus bending
lifting
carrying
lifting kit into/out of vehicle
holding boom
