Upon completion of the course the candidate will have an understanding of the principals and benefits of a risk assessment. He will be familiar with the concept of the risk assessment, the control measures, identifying population at risk and any residual risks. Utilising the tools provided by SQE, the assessor will be competent in identifying possible hazards and implementing control procedures. Risk Assessment

The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations requires that ‘Every employer shall make a suitable and sufficient assessment of –

  1. the risks to health and safety of his employees to which they are exposed whilst they are at work; and
  2. the risks to the health and safety of persons not in his employment arising out of or in connection with the conduct by him of his undertaking,’

As an employer you need to know how to prepare, review and cascade the information contained within a risk assessment.

The Aims:
  1. To train the assessor to be competent in recognising possible hazards within the work environemnt.
  2. To provide a simple means of recording risks, the population at risk, required control measures and the assessment of residual risk.
  3. On completion, the delegate will have the knowledge and skills needed to prepare appropriate risk assessments.
