School Link(2010/2011)
Study Method:
1 or 2 days per week as agreed with the Head of Sector at Barking College and the school contact person.
Duration :2 x Academic terms or one full academic year.
Who the Course is For:
This programme is for students with MLDD attending mainstream schools, and the programme is negotiated with the school to meet the needs of the student.
Course Leads To:
Generally students progress to other Supportive Education post-16 programmes.
Entry Requirements:
Students are referred by school.
Content:
Option 1: 5 hours (1 day a week) or
Option 2: 10 hours (2 days a week)
Literacy - Written, reading and speaking and listening. Edexcel (Entry, 1, 2 or 3 Adult Literacy)
Numeracy - data, numbers, time and calendars, measuring. Edexcel (Entry 1, 2 or 3 Adult Numeracy)
Basic Skills
Social skills and relationships are developed within the programme.
Students can do vocational tasters and these have included art and design, woodwork, horticulture, motor vehicle, photography or media studies.
Before you finish the programme, we will arrange a meeting at your school so we can discuss your future. At this meeting we can discuss the various options at the college.
