Going back to basics, learn how to use a sewing machine. Each week you will build on your sewing skills, working towards completing an A line skirt, you will also and make various items that you can take home and keep - including a cushion cover and a zip-wallet.

About this course
- Use the sewing machine
- Use practical sewing skills for making seams
- Practice the application of interfacing
- Put in a zip
- Create a buttonhole and sew on a button, using professional techniques
- Hand and machine hems
- Produce a range of sewing samples for future reference
- Press and finish samples
- Demonstrate sewing techniques used in the making up of accessories.
Fabric for samples and practising etc will be supplied. Additional fabric requirements for your garment or other items will be discussed in the first session.
Bring a notebook and pen to keep your notes in and a small folder or plastic sleeve for any hand outs. All equipment is provided.

Course programme
With individual use of a Bernina sewing machine, the tutor will guide you through how to use the sewing machine and the basic sewing techniques used in making up accessories and basic garments. You will have the opportunity to develop your sewing, cutting and pressing skills, and will be guided step by step through this process by your tutor.
Through demonstrations, discussions, workshop practice, one to one instruction and guidance. Some tasks may need to be undertaken at home in order to be completed.Additional information
