SFEDI is the Government recognised UK standards setting body for enterprise - run by entrepreneurs for entrepreneurs. SFEDI researches leading practice, sets standards, principles and guidelines for supporting business start-up. This practical course is aimed at students considering the idea of starting up a business, or those unsure whether self employment is for them. The course is designed to enable you to develop your persoanl abilities for business and develop two business ideas.

What you need to know
How will I study?

This course provides a thorough foundation in starting your own business, or developing an existing business into new product or service lines if you are new or inexperienced in running a business. Topics include assessing own abilities, sales and marketing, finance, market research, legalities, operational issues, choosing suppliers and business networking. There is also the opportunity to progress onto the University of Chichester ‘Hot House’ programme providing intensive 1:1 support to business start ups at a reduced cost.
How will I be taught?

This 9 week course runs from Thursday 24 September 2015 - Thursday 26 November 2015. 3 hour lessons are held on Thursday evening from 5:30pm to 8:30pm. There is a good mix of students from different stages of business start up which provides a lively environment for learning & sharing best practice. This course is taught using a coaching approach with focus on supporting each student progress their business ideas and applying tools & techniques to develop a viable & feasible business idea.
How will I be assessed?

The qualification is 100% assignment based and involves working through a series of workbooks on each of the relevant topics for starting a business. If you proceed onto the Certificate, these workbooks will be used to create a business plan.
