Course Overview
This is a 2 year course which has been developed to provide young people with the opportunity to develop personal and vocational skills essential for a successful working life.

All learning takes place in a supported environment.

Course Structure
Vocational areas include Retail, Office Skills, DIY Skills (Carpentry and Metal Work), Catering, Horticulture and Housekeeping. One day a week is at work placement.

Four days are spent in college and one days work placement.

Qualification Aims
Year 1: Students will achieve units of accreditation for specific subjects studied.

Year 2: Continuous assessment and review towards building a portfolio of evidence. Externally set assignments. Students may achieve a certificate in Skills for Working Life Entry 2 and/or 3 a progression route to NVQ Level 1 and/ or out to employment

Additional qualifications will include Adult Literacy and Numeracy accreditation.

Assessments/Examinations
Continuous assessment and review throughout the two years.
Portfolio of evidence.

Cost / Equipment
Tuition fee is free but there are additional costs.

£25 Catering fee per annum

£25 Portfolio costs (If over 18)

£15 Horticulture

£15 DIY Skills

£50 Certification fee (Registration and Certification is free for students under the age of 18)

Help with essential equipment costs may be available to students who experience financial difficulties.
